2000 PERFORMANCE
Sunny stormed out of the gates by winning back-to-back WCT events in Australia after training hard in the off-season. Commanded the ratings lead all year, and only failed to reach the quarterfinals or better in four out-of-11 events before he secured his first world title. Surfed every heat with the same "winning is the only option" attitude, and earned nothing but added respect from his peers as he powered to his ultimate achievement.
