QUIKSILVER BOWLRIDERS - version 2
The "Quiksilver Bowlriders - version 2" set Marseille's world famous Prado skatepark on fire. Once again the sponsors invited 48 of the world's best "bowl" skaters to strut their stuff in the best concrete skateboarding facility in Europe, between 14th & 18th June 2000.
The specially invited Americans, Europeans, and Marseille locals ground, carved and aired their way around the fastest skatepark on Earth, vying for a chunk of the $30,000 USD total prize purse, and the $10,000 up for grabs for first place. As a special guest, the skateboard legend Tony Hawk was there on the 16th June.
Years ago Australian surfers Alan Green and John Law started Quiksilver making boardshorts so they could earn a living and still surf, today that company is worldwide, and sponsors boardriding events in all disciplines. The Quiksilver Bowlriders event is one way for the company to nourish the sports at the source, and give a boost to the boardriding scene in Europe and the rest of the world.
