2009/10 Season kicks off big in the Southern Hemisphere

The 2009/10 Big wave season kicked off with some more monster slabs, this time from Western Oz with Mark Mathews nabbing a horrendous beast. The contest season started off with the innaugural Billabong Pico Alto which was won by man-about-the-globe Greg Long. Dust off that big wave gun, the North Pacific is expecting a return of El Nino conditions. 2008/09 Season builds momentum through the year

The Big wave season once again kicked off in Africa with Grant Twiggy Baker nabing a beast at Tafelberg. Twiggy and others once again raised the question of 'Biggest Ever?' The North Pacific, slow to start out in 2007/2008 stirred to life on time this year with Maverick's dishing out some massive November sessions and a few Billabong XXL paddle-in entries. 2007/08 season starts off in Africa

2006/07 redefined the big-wave map with rides at Dungeons South Africa and Puerto Escondido Mexico nabbing awards at the Billabong XXL. As the North Pacific was relatively silent world attention focused on the southern hemisphere's untapped potential. With a new, larger big wave map, 2007/08 is wide open with possibilities.
