1000 ispo Exhibitors Await Buyers From 100 Countries

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 May, 2006 : - - ispo summer 06 will take place with approximately 1,000 exhibitors on 900,000 square feet of the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from July 16 to 18, 2006. It will again provide retailers from more than 100 countries with a wide-ranged trade fair with the market leaders in individual Special Communities, comprehensive innovations and new brands, very varied and informative projects and Special Areas as well as athletic events.


The most important function of ispo is to identify new trends at an early stage and provide them with an appropriate platform. ispo will again do justice to this need this summer and has again initiated new Special Areas in the individual Special Communities.. Retailers will have the chance to share ideas about developments and trends in an authentic and business-oriented environment as well as obtain information about the latest products of all brands.


An innovative area within outdoor_ispo – the Special Area "WT – Wearable Technology" is new at ispo summer 06 and creates a bridge between the sports, fashion and high-tech industries. The product range of the participating suppliers extends from backpacks with solar cells to functional jackets and gloves with integrated MP3 players and even portable playstations. In addition, there will be a fashion designed specifically for it twice daily.


ispo summer 06 will also be dedicated to the triathlon segment. Panel discussions with experts and athletes from the triathlon scene, product presentations and fashion shows will be held at a separate and new platform within running_ispo, the “Transition Area." Trade fair visitors will also find current trends, news and information dealing with all aspects of the three disciplines swimming, cycling and running.


The official partner of this new Special Area is Filser Sport & Marketing, with the brands Orca, Catlike and Zoggs. They will not only show the official ispo triathlon clothing for the area, but will also conduct neoprene tests in a small pool, among other things. Other participating companies include Aquaman, Bell, Diadora, Easton, Elite Bicycles, Erox AG, Giro, Ironman Wetsuits, Look, Profile Design, Scott, Woolf Shoes, Xterra Wetsuits, etc.


board_ispo is moving in tune with the times and will occupy Hall A3 with Belowzero, Bear, Billabong, Brunotti, Chiemsee, Dakine, Element, F2, Fanatic, Funk, Hurley, Kustom, Mistral, O´Neill, Protest, Quiksilver, QWST, Roxy, Town and Country, US40, Von Zipper and others.


The organizers are focusing explicitly on the topic of kitesurfing with TradeWind, the new kitesurfing initiative. Leading brands are presenting new functional materials, a gallery will communicate the background and development of the sport, and a kite demo will show which maneuvers and jumps are currently in fashion.


In line with that, the new ispo Project Glass & Resin provides the chance to obtain information from the leading brands specialized in surfboard construction about current trends and developments.


Other Special Areas of ispo have already been successful for years. For example, board_ispo will again present six selected streetwear brands from the boardsports area at seedbed. Young, innovative brands get a platform unique in the world there to exhibit to a wide-range of people in the industry.


Brands such as Seed, Arcus, Loreak Mendrian, Addict, Alis and QWST succeeded into taking a great leap forward into the international boardsport business with this project. 


The market leaders of the surf, skate and streetwear industries will again present themselves to retailers jointly in the “Boardsports Village” following the big success last summer. The Village will be designed like a beach resort, whereby the individual booths of the brands will represent the facilities of the resort. Fashion shows will be held in show area in the center, among other things.


As a competent and multifaceted trade fair, ispo summer 06 again has a wide range of Special Communities for retailers with a great variety of current trends and innovations. outdoor_ispo in Hall B2 is going optimally equipped into the summer season. Renowned exhibitors from the Outdoor and Nordic areas have already confirmed their presence, including Buff, Campagnolo, Coleman, Columbia, Crocs, Deproc, Exel, Garra Climbing Shoes, Helentex, Hitec, Jack Wolfskin, Komperdell, Leki, Lowa, Meindl, Mephisto, Mountain Hardwear, Schöffel, Trespass and Ziener.


Various activities, forums and supporting events will also make outdoor_ispo into an important and interesting communication platform for industry and commerce. For example, the Nordic Fitness Summit will be held, and product innovations from the outdoor sector will be distinguished within the framework of the ispo Outdoor Awards by an international jury of experts, including in the new “Nordic” category for the first time.


running_ and teamsport_ispo will occupy Hall B1 with the suppliers Asics, Ciclo, Gore Running, Hi-Tec, Kappa, Karhu, Polar, Spalding/Uhlsport, Tao and others, as well as the Runner’s World Action Point. racket_ispo with the Sweetspot Village and the joint booth of the tennis equipment companies Dunlop, Greenballs, Head Sportswear, MTS, Reebok, etc. will also be there.


There will also be a show for tennis clothing on the stage of the Runner’s World Action Point in addition to the Running Fashion Show. Hall B3 will hold the international country exhibitions in sourcing_ispo, and the purchasing associations Intersport and Sport 2000 will be located in B0.


The A halls will start in A1 with sportswear_ispo, beachwear_ispo and textrends_ispo and consequently brands such as Arena, Brugi, Elemar, Fashy, Gonso, Joy, Maier Sports, Screwballs, Speedo, Toray, etc. Various fashion shows will present the current collections.


The Promostyl Trend Barometer, WGSN Colour Forum and IDEAS, the International Designers´ Exhibition of Active Sports, will provide information about the trends of the upcoming season. The Special Community sportswear_ispo will be expanded by golf clothing for the first time. In addition to their individual trade fair participation, a package deal is being offered to manufacturers in connection with GOLF EUROPE in Munich in October.


ispovision summer 06, International Trade Show for Sportstyle – Fashion Inspired by Sports, will be in Hall A2. In addition to the already mentioned segments of Yachting Style, Golf Style and Premium Sportstyle, the new topics Beach Style and especially Outdoor Style will be in the forefront.


In addition to at outdoor_ispo, the outdoor specialists Columbia, Marmot and Keen will exhibit their new collections at ispovision. Others on board include Adelheid, at.one, Body Talk, Brax, Casall, Clover, Garmisch, Geox, i.d. brasil, Merrell, Pierre Cardin Sport, Rhönisch Sportswear, Seafolly, Speedo, Sportalm, etc.


The Global Sportstyle Awards and their stylish award ceremony within the framework of the Style Night have clearly become a highlight of ispovision following four successful events. The main categories have been rearranged to ensure the comparability of the participating outfits taking part in the awards and to structure the voting procedure more transparently.


There are now classifications in line with the sportstyle segments exhibited at ispovision. Another new feature is that the nominated jury is going to award a prize directly: the “Lifetime Achievement Award." This will be awarded to individuals – mainly designers – who have made significant contributions to the Sportstyle segment internationally. The upcoming Style Night will take place on Monday, July 17, 2006.


inline_ispo will occupy Hall A4 with companies such as Fila Skates, fun4you, Hudora, K2, Powerslide, Roces, Rollerblade and Roller Derby. In addition to an Inline Parcours, there will be a tennis court and an Indoor Driving Range in Hall A4, which will make it into a real action hall.


In this connection and at the request of the industry, the organizers are going to open Hall A4 for the complete duration of the trade fair for the first time for those interested from the general public, who will then be able to obtain information at the booths and in the action area about product novelties and the individual sports.


Of course, sports action will get its due share at ispo this summer too. On the first trade fair day, the World Inline Cup will be held in Munich in addition to Berlin. In addition to the world’s best inline skaters, those who play sports for recreation of all levels of skill can take part in the event. Another sports highlight within the framework of ispo will be the largest inline event in the world, the Munich Blade Night.


The Blade Night regularly attracts between 15,000 and 20,000 skaters onto Munich’s streets every Monday evening in the summer months and will start directly from the trade fair grounds on the second trade fair day.


The ispo organizers are especially concerned about the next generation. They are again providing support to young, innovative companies from the outdoor industry with the Greenhouse Project and giving them the chance to exhibit in a special area at ispo designed especially for this purpose. 


The world’s largest young entrepreneur contest for the sporting goods industry, ispo BrandNew, has notched up a new registration record for the summer event. A total of 156 applications from 24 countries have been received till now, already 16% more compared with the ispo BrandNew Awards at ispo summer 05.


ispo is providing young, innovative brands, which have overcome initial market obstacles, with a separate, shared area for the first time with the new innovation area NewBiz for former participants in the ispo BrandNew Awards. Directly adjacent to BrandNew Village, six former BrandNew participants will exhibit their most current products and innovations.


Attention is also being given to the next generation of retailers. The ispo Trainee Project will again bring many trainees in European sport retailing to Munich and provide important additional benefits to their training with seminars and workshops in collaboration with partners from industry. 


For the first time, the ispo team is already on the road in advance of ispo summer 60 to visit more than 3,000 sports retailers throughout all of Germany. Starting at the beginning of June, sports retailers will receive information about conception and strategy, exhibitors, communities and events as well as other services of ispo.


The first ispo Roadshow within Germany will be accompanied by partners from the industry and media and become a fixed component of ispo’s year-round strategy in the future, including on an international level.
