Rip Curl Girls Go Surfing Day A Huge Success
Wednesday, 17 December 2003: This years annual Rip Curl Girls Go Surfing Day surpassed all previous years in participation throughout Australia.
The exciting initiative to encourage girls of all ages to take to the surf, saw and estimated 5000 participants attend the 50 Coca Cola Surfing Australia Surf Schools which activated this massive weekend of learn to surf.
Graham Galbraith´s Torquay Surf School was just one of the locations running the sessions and Gally commented on the weekend by claiming - " By far the best Rip Curl Girls Go Surfing Day so far --- I´ve been flat out with the girls - can´t believe how enthusiastic they are and it looks to me as tho most of them will be back for more lessons now they realise how much fun it is and how successful they can be!"
This years numbers represents a massive 25% increase on previous years - testiment to both how popular girls surfing is these days and how accessible and safe the sport is to learn through the extensive and professional network of the Coca Cola Surfing Australia Surf Schools system -- almost every icon surf location in the country has a Surfing Australia school in place , teaching surfing properly and safely to thousands of enthusiasts ensuring the future of both great competive surfers and healthy lifestyle surfers!
Rip Curl have been proud sponsors of this participation program for 10 years and the growth and success has been largely due to their support which Surfing Australia relies upon to deliver such healthy initiatives.
Next years program looks set to be bigger than ever and we can expect the program to be more likely an entire weekend to cope with the huge demand at all locations.
