ALAS Updates

ALAS season is far from over | Español

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 9 July, 2014 - Only four stops of the ALAS circuit have been completed for 2014, and the struggle for Latino champion is far from being determined. There are at least five more events, and six from the total number of events will determine the champions.

In the Open category so far there has not been one competitor who has won two events. In Playas, Jonathan Chila was the local who won the title, in Motañita it was the Venezuelan Rafael Pereira, in San Lorenzo it was Carlos Muñoz, and in Costa Rica again a Tico, Noe Mar McGonagle.

Besides Pereira, who is the leader of the ranking at this time, and his close followers Anthony Fillingim, Jonathan Chila and Lucas Madrid, there are at least 5 other candidates with equal opportunities to grasp the title.

Costa Rican Carlos Munoz and Jason Torres are two of these elite possible champions. Muñoz already has a win, and perhaps the only reason he is not higher in the ranking is due to the fact that he has not participated in all events. When you begin to discard scores can rise dramatically. Torres is the eternal candidate that can win at any time, but the young Costa Rican Noe Mar Mc Gonagle can not be ruled out.
