Eight made the cut from these votes along with an honorary spot designated to the late Andy Irons.  The tenth and final spot was left to the fans, as they voted via Facebook and through the US Open of Surfing website. "It's a strange feeling to be in the water with 20,000 pairs of eyes on you. It used to make me nervous -- now it just gets me excited and makes me want to surf better."
