Matt Passeri helps paraplegic surfer realize dream of surfing in a competitive final 

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 May, 2015 - Argentina - A heartwarming surprise at the Argentinian Surf Championships, as finalist Matt Passeri was kindly disqualified for paddling out carrying friend and paraplegic surfer Nicolas Gallegos on his back. 

Gallegos dreamed all of his adolescence of becoming a professional surfer, until one fateful accident left him paralyzed when he was 19. Gallegos had long dreamed of competing in the Argentinian Surf Championship, and Passeri, knowing full-well that it would cost him the championship, decided that Passeri was going to live out his dream. 

Passeri is a five-time Argentinian champion. Following the finals, Passeri said that surfing the event with Gallegos was the “greatest victory of his career.”
