Stephanie Gilmore lauded both in and out of the water
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17 October, 2011 : - - Coolangatta, Queensland/Australia -- The ASP Womens World Title season came to a close in July at the Nike US Open of Surfing. Despite finishing abruptly early this year, there were no shortage of highlights with tour sophomore Carissa Moore (HAW), 19, clinching her maiden ASP Womens World Title.
ASP are looking into an enhanced womens schedule for 2012 (to be released in November), but in the interim, well be checking in with the ladies of the ASP Top 17 to see how theyre spending their respective down time.
Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 23, is a woman whom needs no introduction four ASP Womens World Titles and 18 elite tour victories all by the time she was 23 have vaulted her into a realm of celebrity the surfing world has rarely seen.
Hot of the heels of baring it all in ESPNs Body Issue, the Gold Coast beauty scooped the field at the Australian Womens Health Sports Woman of the Year Awards ahead of Torah Bright, Sam Stouser, Lauren Jackson and Alice Perry, nabbing the cover in the mean time.
