Gold Coast hosts 5th Surfing Australia Green Room Conference
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 May, 2014 - Australia’s leading surfing coaches and administrators met on the Gold Coast at the weekend for the fifth Green Room Conference hosted by Surfing Australia.
The conference is the benchmark professional development gathering for the surfing community and this year’s theme was The 6 Must Know Surfing Solutions For 2014.
It attracted more than 100 participants who heard from high profile presenters including big-wave surfing champion Mark Mathews who spoke on Life Beyond Fear.
Other speakers included Surfing Australia Sport Science Manager and Head of Strength and Conditioning Dr Jeremy Sheppard, Surfing Australia National Coach Andy King, sports psychologist Jason Patchell, Surfing Australia PhD scholars Lina Lundgren and Tai Tran, and disabled surfer David “Barney” Miller who spoke on Solutions Over Blame.
“This was a unique opportunity to learn and share insights and innovations in our sports elite coaching and athlete development programs,” said Surfing Australia CEO Andrew Stark. “This is an important conference to ensure the Australian surf coaching network remains at the head of the pack internationally. Highly skilled coaches are vital to maintaining our status as the number one surfing national in the world.”
