Australia's best over-40s head to Cronulla for Tradies Surfmasters

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 November, 2013 - The Tradies Surfmasters will once again bring a festival environment to the beach when the 2013 event kicks off this upcoming weekend at North Cronulla.

The event, which is currently in its fourth consecutive year, will play host to some of Australia’s best over-40 shortboard, longboard, kneeboard and SUP surfers as well as hosting a variety of festive happenings for spectators and visitors.

Surfing NSW CEO Mark Windon believes the Tradies Surfmasters provides the perfect platform for some of surfing’s elder statesmen to stoke their competitive flame.

“The Tradies Surfmasters is one of the two marquee events for surfers aged over-40 in NSW,” said Windon. “For the last several years, Tradies have been great supporters of this event and we’ve grown in numbers over the last few years. We expect that this year’s event will see more entrants as well as an increased number of spectators eager to partake in all of the festival happenings.”

The Red, White and Blues Festival will see food and wine stalls, nostalgic cars, swimwear parades and live music just behind the event site at Dunningham Park. The family friendly festival is thanks to Jumbo events.

"Tradies is very proud to be sponsoring the Surfmasters competition for the fourth year running,” said Tradies president Dennis McHugh. “This is a great community event and we wish all the competitors the best of luck over the weekend."

Competition is expected to kick off at 7.30 am at North Cronulla. The Event Hotline will be updated with a complete schedule by 6.45am on the day of competition. Call 0458 247 212 on Saturday for the most up-to-date information.

Tradies Surfmasters is proudly supported by Tradies, Be the Influence – Tackling Binge Drinking, Sutherland Shire Council, Australian Skin Cancer Clinics, Dominelli Group, Coastalwatch, Carve Eyewear, Westfield Miranda, Ohana Ocean Athletics and Surfing NSW.

Tradies is a values based organisation with our main objective to provide each and every visitor with an exceptional experience. At Tradies our core purpose is community support and in 2011 alone, Tradies donated over half-a-million dollars to local community and sporting groups.

From its very beginnings Tradies has been known as a community club and whilst we continue to grow, these core values along with many others are still held by the Board, Management and Staff at Tradies.
