Former World Champ joins Occy and Simon Anderson at Komunity Projekt

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 1 June, 2015 - North Curl Curl, Australia - Today Komunity Project announced the signing of Barton Lynch as the newest Ambassador/Product Developer to join the Komunity Project team.

Barton joins the team with existing Komunity Project Ambassadors/Product Developers, Simon Anderson and Mark Occhilupo.

Barton emerged from the beach-breaks of Manly, NSW Australia. He spent 13 consecutive years in the elite top 16 rated surfers, on the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) world tour, earning a reputation as a tactical competitor as well as a forthright and articulate spokesman for the sport.

His greatest competitive moment could not have been more perfectly scripted, as he surfed the perfect tubes of Hawaii’s famed Pipeline, to take out the 1988 Billabong Pro and the World Title. He retired from competition in March 1998, after 15 years on the ASP tour and a total of 17 WCT victories.

He spent 10 years on the ASP Board as a surfers’ representative, now the WSL, as a passionate advocate for surfers’ rights in the marketplace. Since retiring from competition BL has continued with his love of surfing and gets on a board every day and is a coach to hundreds of surfers wanting to improve their performance. BL was inducted into the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame in 1998 and into the Australian Sporting Hall of Fame in 2000.

Barton said I have a passion for surfing performance and feel privileged to have this opportunity to work with a company of Komunity Projects standing and to develop products together of which we already have several in the pipeline. From my time as a professional surfer and more recently as a coach I have a wealth of experience that I bring to the role and to product development. I am already loving it.

Paul Munten CEO Komunity Project said, “Barton’s clean living lifestyle is respected by all in the industry and he is a role model for young grommets all around the globe. His style is smooth with a handbook of manoeuvres that he teaches young grommets. A lot has changed in the surfing world and having BL involved with the development of new products to the Komunity range is huge for us. We are stoked to have BL on team using our products and working with us on developing more products to the Komunity Project range in the future.
