Jumbled surf, improving conditions on the way...
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 21 August, 2015 - Teahupo'o - Event organizers have called a forth consecutive lay day at the Billabong Pro Tahiti, Stop No. 7 on the Samsung Galaxy World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), with only jumbled surf on offer at Teahupo'o and improving conditions on the way.
"We won't run any heats today and we'll come back tomorrow morning," Kieren Perrow, WSL Commissioner said. "The surf has come down towards the South and is running down the reef so isn't as hollow as it was yesterday. The sets are still in the overhead range but it's really wobbly and the wind has been on it all night again. We're still expecting much better waves throughout the next four days".
When competition resumes, up first will be Josh Kerr (AUS) and Adrian Buchan (AUS) in Heat 9 of Round 3.
Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow at 7 a.m. local time to assess conditions and make a call for competition.
Surfline, official forecaster for the World Surf League, are calling for: Friday will see a building trend of mid size, mid period S swell as trades swing more to the ESE and surf quality will improve. The surf will back down over the weekend as swell direction trends more to the SSE/SE and moderate+ trades continue. Moderate to fairly solid, building, and long period SW swell fills in through Monday and peaks during the later afternoon/evening, easing by Tuesday morning. Some new S swell may build later in the day on Tuesday. Strong trades (side/offshore) prevail both Mon and Tue.
The world's best surfing is also broadcast LIVE on Fox Sports in Australia, MCS Extreme in France, EDGE Sports in China, South Korea, Malaysia and other territories and on Globo TV in Brazil.
