Body of missing Costa Rican surfer found by family

Surfer went missing last Friday on Costa Rica's Pacific coast

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 December, 2015 - The body of a missing surfer was retrieved by Costa Rican Coast Guard officers on Tuesday near the coast of Tivives, about eight miles south of Caldera Beach.

The Tico Times reported that 22-year-old Ricardo Andrés Gonzalez went missing on Friday from Caldera Beach on Costa Rica’s central Pacific side.

Costa Rican Red Cross spokesman Gerald Jiménez told The Tico Times that authorities had been scanning the waters from 7 a.m. until sunset each day, looking for the lost surfer who is originally from San Antonio de Belén in Heredia.

The body was initially discovered by a private boat piloted by Ricardo’s family who stayed with the body until the Coast Guard arrived.
