Parsons Beach episode was relatively minor
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 9 June, 2014 - The bodyboard was bitten at Parsons Beach, near Waitpinga on the Fleurieu Peninsula and escaped with relatively minor injuries. Witnesses said Scott Berry, 39, a pastor of Enfield, shouted profanities at the bronze whaler before riding his board back to shore.
Mr Berry posted on Facebook details of the attack and a photo showing his wound. “Next unexpected life experience, shark bite while bodyboarding at Parsons Beach today,” he posted. “Was surprised to get up close and personal with snappy 5ft bronzie and ended up with seven stitches at Victor Harbor hospital.”
while news of the attack spread quickly at the popular beach, surfers remained in the water throughout the morning and the afternoon. Surfing SA junior head coach Mark Longhurst, who was teaching a student at Parsons Beach when the attack happened, said the incident was relatively minor.
“There was a large school of salmon out there ... and obviously other things are out there looking for the salmon as well besides fishermen,” he said.
