Company makes furniture with aim of bringing the beach to the great indoors

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 May, 2017 - Funiture design studios don’t typically smell like surfboard factories, but this one does. Bolge Salty Designs, an innovative company creating an audacious mix of Scandinavian style and beach culture,  launched their first collection earlier this year.

Bolge has created 12 unique pieces and in the process become the first brand in the world to design and produce furniture using the same technique and materials as surfboards.

“Surfing is much more than a sport,” says Benjamin Rossillon. “It's a true lifestyle that brings together a passionate community around the world. That's why creating a full range of surfing-inspired furniture has become a must.”

Each Bolge object is designed in Europe with production split between France and Lisbon. The handmade furniture is stamped with a production date and a serial number before being shipped off to customers worldwide.

The company is the fruit of an encounter between a surfer, Benjamin, and a furniture designer, Phil.

“We were seeing a master shaper at work and we imagined this kind of construction in interior design,” says Benjamin of their discussions.

Among their current offerings are three sizes of dinner tables, one bench, a clock, four different coffee tables and more. Their most popular item is the Bolge 59, a sturdy coffee table, in black.
