Celebrities Come Out to Support the Surfrider Foundation

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 August, 2006 : - -  Last night, it was all about Orange County, when the stars came out in full force to support the Living Room’s 3rd Annual “Evening Extravaganza” to benefit the Surfrider Foundation.

Paris Hilton, celebrity DJ Caroline D’Amore, Kevin and Christine Costner, Kim Kardashian, Jillian Barberie-Reynolds and husband Grant Reynolds, “Laguna Beach” cast members, Masiela Lusha, Rob Pinkston, Lindsey Shaw, Camille Solari, Briana Deutsch, and more ventured south to Costa Mesa to support the worthy cause.

Lacey and Rob Cammarata, who own The Living Room, are beach lovers at heart and put on this event annually to support the Surfrider Foundation. With a red carpet made from sand, the night was a true extravaganza celebrating fashion, music, entertainment and art.

At sundown, guests enjoyed a super sexy fashion show hosted by Jillian Barberie that featured designs from Newport Beach’s own Jennifer Croll boutique, including the brand new 2007 swimwear collection by Vitamin A. Celebrity model/DJ Caroline D’amore rocked the fashion show and she opened and closed it with her signature walk, which guests went crazy for.

Meanwhile, actor Kevin Costner and other high-rollers staked out the special VIP charity poker tournament. Guests were also treated to performances by the Dares, Kristen Prophet and Iodine 69, as well as a special screening of the new Globe movie, “Secret Machine.”

After the fashion show, Celebrity DJ Caroline D’Amore made a special appearance behind the turntables, and guests got an extra-special treat when Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian joined her and were hand-delivered a box filled with their favorite treats, Sprinkles Cupcakes.

Paris Hilton was thrilled to come out for the event to support her best pal, Caroline D’Amore on the runway and while she was spinning her favorite tunes. She expressed her support for the foundation when she shared, “I love the ocean. I love the beach…and I want to be sure it’s a healthy, clean place for my grandchildren to enjoy one day, so I support Surfrider.”

Kevin Costner, who has a beach house just south of Santa Barbara, shared his support for the Surfrider Foundation, as well: “I’m here to support my dear friend Lacey, as well as this incredible cause. We need to keep our beaches and oceans clean, and our friends at Surfrider need our support to do so.”

Jillian Barberie of Fox Good Day LA stated, “Grant and I are just back from our honeymoon where we enjoyed the beach abroad. It’s so important to help protect our beaches – globally – I’m a true beach girl at heart and happy to help the cause.”

Guests also enjoyed cocktails from sponsor Svedka Vodka, as well as drinks from Hyptoniq and Red Bull, and an array of food from Sprinkles Cupcakes, Chronic Taco, Memphis, and Jack Shrimp, while perusing art from legendary surf artist Rick Rietveld.

At the end of the event, everyone went home with great gift bags filled with treats from FOAM magazine, Water Magazine, Dermalogica, ghd, Duwop, Philosophy, GoSmile, Equinox, Comptoir Sud Pacifique, Interiors by Decorating Den certificates, Jennifer Croll gift certificates, SIGG, Too Faced, the Lost Bean and more.

100% of the proceeds raised for the event supports the Surfrider Foundation, which helps save our oceans, beaches, coastlines and waterways through education in our schools and public awareness in our communities.
