Samson Coulter & Jay Brown take top spots in their categories

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 July, 2016 - Four NSW Junior Champions were crowned today at the Ocean and Earth NSW Junior State Surfing Titles as the event recommenced in clean two-foot waves at Lighthouse Beach.
Northern Beaches native Samson Coulter (Balgowlah) claimed his second major victory in as many weeks, taking out the Under-18 Boys final. Coulter shared the action packed final with Central Coast powerhouse Sandon Whittaker (Avoca) who held down the lead for the majority of the exchange. However, in the dying minute of the final, Coulter was able to muster up a massive 8.33 wave score, which allowed him to clench the victory.
Joining Coulter in the winners circle was fellow Queenscliff Boardriders Club member Alysse Cooper (Manly) who was victorious in the Under-18 Girls final. Cooper put on a stellar display of surfing in the final to post a 15.84 heat total and claim the win ahead of Central Coast surfer Zoe Ifield (North Entrance) who took out the runner-up spot.
Jay Brown (Cronulla) saved his best performance for last, overcoming a rampaging Mikey McDonagh (Lennox Head) to claim the Under-16 Boys final. Brown posted an 11.90 heat total to take the title and earn his position in the NSW Team for the upcoming Australian Junior Titles in Phillip Island.
Following a string of heat wins, Kirra-Belle Olsson (Avoca) continued to perform beyond her years, claiming the Under-16 Girls final. Olsson posted a respectable 8.00 ride and a 7.47 to amass a heat total of 15.47 and claim the victory ahead of Bodhi-Leigh Jones (Avalon) who claimed the silver medal position.
