Australian Longboard Surfing Open

Tweed Coast, Australia
25 - 29 March 2015

Divisions greeted with perfect morning conditions for Day 2

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 26 March, 2015 - Current World Champions, Harley Ingleby and Chelsea Williams are both through to the semi-finals of the 2015 Australian Longboard Surfing Open.  Both competed in their sections with a preferable clean wave at Kingscliff, compared to yesterdays choppy and windy conditions.

A heavy rain saw the introduction to a perfect bank for both the WSL LQS Men’s and the Pretty Shady LQS Women’s longboarding events at the Australian Longboard Surfing Open today.

In the Men’s Qualifying Series, Saturday morning will prove to be hot competition in the water with two internationals - the former world champion Taylor Jenson (USA) against Edouard Delpero (FRA), current European champion and an Aussie stand-off, with Ruben Roxburgh (AUS) against Harley Ingleby (AUS).

The swell gave the competitors a slower pace and capabilities for a more refined performance, perfect conditions for the specialty divisions Noserider, Villa World Logger/Old Mal and Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club Retro.

Competitors included “the unofficial mayor of Kingscliff” Ray Gleaves, his son Cameron Gleaves, the prominent surfing identity Jay Phillips (President of the Snapper Rocks Boardriders) and Matt Aldrige, a past champion/local surf shop owner.

Dane Pioli, dominated the noseriders with hang five and hang ten combinations, in a perfect standing statue form at the edge of the board in what was a magnificent display of maneuvers.   Exceptionally impressive, was female longboarder Victoria Vegara, France leading the heat in the beginning with the males having to chase her.

Jenson, former world champion, was the happy heat winner of the Villa World Loggers proving to be a hard competitor for Ray Gleaves.

The following surfers will be advancing into the semi finals on Saturday morning-
