Dragon Alliance and Clark Little announce beginning of creative partnership
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 28 October, 2014 - Dragon Alliance and Clark Little, one of the most renowned water photographers in the game today, are very pleased to announce the beginning of a creative partnership. Little has established himself as the leading shorebreak and underwater wave photographer, garnering over 1.5 million followers on social media and creating a whole new genre of ocean photography.
Ironically, Clark was sponsored by Dragon as an upcoming pro surfer in the late 90s so working with Dragon again is sort of a homecoming. Growing up on the North Shore of Oahu, Little has been around big waves all of his life, but it wasn't until one day he picked up a camera and swam out to capture the North Shore Shorebreak that he began to be able to articulate their inner beauty and power.
"I am excited and honored to partner with Dragon," says Clark Little. "As a photographer who spends hours each day at the beach, protecting my eyes are critical to my work. I take sunglasses very seriously. Dragon H20 shades are epic in protection, and they FLOAT! What more can a shorebreak photographer ask for? I am sure anyone who spends time around the water can relate - I don't plan to ever losing another pair of shades to a big shorebreak set that cleans out my stuff on the beach!"
"Even from his earliest images, we knew Clark possessed a unique artistic talent," says Dragon Global Brand Manager, Rick Irons. "Nobody was even thinking about doing what he was doing, his vision was so far ahead. We're very excited to be working together and he fits the Dragon DNA perfectly as a true waterman and photographer that is pushing the limits of what can be photographed in the water."
Clark Little's work, both groundbreaking and extremely creative, is visible around the world. Most recently, in 2014 he published the second of his two books entitled Shore break. It is an ode to wave and ocean photography, featuring images from the North Shore of Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Big Island, California, Japan and French Polynesia. Little's first book, The Shorebreak Art of Clark Little, debuted to rave reviews in November 2009. He also runs the Clark Little Gallery in his hometown of Haleiwa, Hawaii.
Since buying his first water housing in 2007, Little's work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum, the Alden B. Dow Museum, Gallery X (Tokyo, Japan), Heritage Maritime Canada (Montreal, Canada), The Four Seasons and The Ritz-Carlton Resorts, among many other shows.
His work has been published in National Geographic, The New York Times, LIFE, The Surfer's Journal and a host of other print and online outlets. Commercial clients include Apple, Nike, Nikon, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Toyota, Anheuser Busch, Lockheed Martin and Verizon.
But beyond his meteoric rise in the photography realm, Little's still happiest in the water.
"The shorebreak is my comfort zone. I absolutely love it," says Little. "It's always different. The light, the colors, the water, the sand and what happens to it. And to be there to capture it and share it with the world...what a dream."
