Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 7 June, 2014 - Two foot glassy offshore wave conditions set the tone for day two of the 12th Durban Surf Carnival presented by Jeep Apparel at Durban’s, New Pier Beach! Due to the vast number of entries received, participants competed off two podiums.
Surfers from the various disciplines from longboard surfing; stand up paddling and retro surfing took to the water with some great performances from Justin Bing (CPT) in the Longboard Open division as well as the SUP Open, other standout performances in the SUP Open were Brandon Ribbink (DBN) and Cape Town’s Thomas King. In the ladies longboard division were Cape Town’s Tarryn Kite and Roxy Davis with Durban local girl, Nix Bez giving the judges great performances!
The surf carnivals oldest contestant, 67 year old Bernie Shelley from Cape Town advanced to the semi finals in the ladies longboard division.
