Southern California duo remember a very forgettable summer of waves
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 1 September, 2015 - Liam Gaarder-Feingold, a freshman filmmaker and photographer at UC Berkeley, and Tad McCardell - a 4th year Psycho-Biology major at UCLA and the UCLA Surf Team President / Captain- spent three months chasing thigh-high summer swells along the coast of San Diego and San Clemente searching for worthwhile waves, but, like most SoCal summers, the swells fell flat.
Three months of riding ripples got chopped into 1 minute 38 seconds of surfing showcasing the duo's academic and surfing endeavors – and such is the nature of the elusive, SoCal summer edit.
While at UCLA McCardell works as a Campus Tour guide, Red Bull Brand Manager and, of course, a student aspiring to enter a career in medicine, research or marketing. He grew up in North County San Diego and was the 2011 NSSA Surfer Scholar of the Year. During the summer he works as an EMT and Lifeguard on staff for the Del Mar Lifeguards and intern for an eco-friendly shoe start-up company.
