Creeper by Rob Machado and Firewire mixes two worlds

Board of the Week

Retro template with modern planning, turning characteristics

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 March, 2017 - We love goofyfoots with style: Gerry Lopez, Craig Anderson and, of course, Rob Machado. Recently Machado partnered with Firewire surfboards to design boards that he loves to ride. The new line debuted a couple of weeks ago, along with Firewire's new website

No guarentee you'll surf like Rob, but this low entry rocker, 70's inspired board with a curvy fuller outline in the tail (to allow quick direction changes yet still provide effortless gliding) could be the best of both the cruisy retro board and a performance shortboard genres.

The board features a single to double concave, and rounded pin so it surfs like a shortboard in the pocket. Because of the large planing surface the board will trim effortlessly over dead sections. The beveled rail reduces the overall thickness of the design as well.

Available in TimberTek which is a construction combination of a lightweight EPS core, sustainably-grown Paulownia wood deck skins, Firewire’s proprietary parabolic rail construction, and an Entropy bio-resin hot coat yield an extremely lightweight, durable surfboard with ALL of the high performance flex characteristics of Firewire’s existing technologies.
