Dana Point points Surfing Heritage Foundation to H.B.

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 March, 2009 : - - Is Huntington Beach after the Surfing Heritage Foundation's surf museum proposed for Dana Point? The latter's city manager, Doug Chotkevys, told residents he's heard such rumors.

"Recently, I became aware that the city of Huntington Beach is actively approaching the Surfing Heritage Museum to locate in their downtown area," Chotkevys told residents at a surf museum town hall meeting Wednesday.

"If the city of Huntington Beach came to me with land and a bucket of cash, I'd be crazy not to take it. I've been hearing rumors since we began this discussion that Huntington Beach covets this museum."

Huntington Beach officials denied any knowledge of such an effort. "This is interesting news, and as far as the city is concerned, I have no knowledge of a proposal like this," Huntington Beach Community Relations Officer Laurie Payne stated in an e-mail.
