Dennis Cotterills Swimmers Team wins Surf for Life event.
Despite inclement weather and average half to one metre surf, celebrities and surfers competed and had fun at the 3rd annual Piping Hot Surf for Life. From athletes and footballers to V8 Supercar Drivers one and all had a great day promoting a worthy cause.
Dennis Cotterills team consisting of himself, World Indigeneous Surfing Champion Rory Togo, and super gromette Jenna Agius just pipped the Chargers consisting of Dion Agius, Dane McIntosh and Nathan Teece.
It wasnt about winning, it was all about highlighting the charity Here for Life that installs programs to educate and prevent youth suicide. Celebrities competed with and against some of the hottest young surfers from the Gold Coast, Ben Ikins Queenslanders Team placing 3rd, Ziems Team 4th, with Paul Weels V8s, The Levitt family, Tony Priddles Dragons, and Stephen Kings Kingys all equal 5th.
Despite the weather the atmosphere was upbeat and fun, with Brisbane Bronco, Queensland, and Australian Rugby League player Ben Ikin impressing all with his style on the board, and V8 supercar driver Paul Weel having a big go, even though admitting that as a surfer he makes a great V8 supercar driver.
All celebrities and competitors enjoyed refreshments and dinner at the Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club, and a great day was had highlighting a very deserving cause.
