Event will host nation's top surfers during bank holiday
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 1 February, 2015 - The UK’s top surfers will gather at Watergate Bay on the bank holiday weekend from Saturday 2 to Monday 4 May to compete for national titles. The annual event is organized by Surf and Science Technology students from Cornwall College’s Newquay campus and is firmly established on the English surfing calendar. The competition is spread across 14 divisions including Open, Longboard, Masters, Veterans, Ladies and Juniors.
A total of 28 students are working alongside Dave Reed from the UK Pro Surf Association and Andy Sturt from the English Surfing Federation to organise the competition. Tyler Worth, joint project manager from Cornwall College, said: “This year, we’re taking the event to a whole new level and building on previous years’ success. We’re planning a black tie fundraising event and we’re currently looking into setting up a live feed of the competition via satellite.
“The competition is a national event, so we’re expecting some of the biggest UK surfers such as Russell Winter, Alan Stokes, Jaide Lowe and Luke Dillon.
