Third Annual "Catch a Curl" Youth Surf Classic

Eastern Surfing Association (ESA)
Westerly Town Beach, Rhode Island USA
13 - September

NESS encourages ocean minded youth through surfing

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 30 August, 2014 - New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS), Westerly Recreation, and Narragansett Surf Shop announce the third annual "Catch a Curl" Youth Surf Classic to be held at the Westerly Town Beach, Rhode Island, on Saturday, September 13th. This is an Eastern Surfing Association (ESA) sponsored event open to beginners through advanced surfers.

"We are encouraging all youth surfers to participate as there will be novice, intermediate & advanced heats. For the younger divisions you can even have a parent in the water to help coach!" says NESS program director and event organizer Mistral Dodson.  "You can check out all the details on our Facebook page, or visit our website at nessf.org."

NESS hopes to continue the success of last year's event, which attracted twenty-nine contestants from as far away as Block Island and Cape Cod. "We were just stoked with the turnout of participants and their families at the beach," said Mistral Dodson. "It was a fantastic, fun, family event. We accomplished everything we wanted to achieve in promoting beginner and advanced surfing, along with community support in a beach clean up to help keep our beaches and ocean healthy and clean!"

NESS acknowledges Westerly Recreation, Narragansett Surf Shop, the Surfrider Foundation, Peter Pan Surfing Academy, and Eastern Surfing Association, for their guidance, support and expertise in making this event a reality.
