Adriano wins in Brazil on Simon Anderson’s signature template, the FCS S-25

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 25 May, 2011 : - - For the first time in his career Adriano De Souza sits at the top of the ASP World Tour ratings courtesy of a win at the Billabong Pro in Rio de Janeiro. Adriano’s choice of fin for the event was Simon Anderson’s signature template, the FCS S-25. From his first heat Adriano was in scintillating form and looked a threat to take the title. His incredible speed and diverse repertoire of manoeuvres proved a lethal combination in the tricky beach break conditions.

Post Billabong Pro, Adriano commented on the process behind selecting the right fin. “I’ll usually switch between the K-3 and the S-25 depending on my boards and the waves. Most of the waves during this event were fast lefts so I needed a fin that would project lots of speed off the bottom, and then respond really quickly off the top. Simon’s fins felt great, I felt like my board could do anything.”

The brainchild of surfing royalty and inventor of the thruster Simon Anderson, the FCS S-25 features a concave foil (IFT) on the side fins, and offers incredible pivoting capabilities in hollow sections, and exceptional hold through longer drawn out carves.

Ironically Adriano’s win also coincides with the release of Simon Anderson’s book titled THRUST. The book tells the story of how Simon revolutionised the modern day surfboard by adding three fins. The FCS S-25 will soon be re-released as the FCS SA-1. While the design of the fin will essentially remain the same, the new FCS SA-1 will feature an exciting new colour, aesthetic and logo layout.
