Save the Waves, Patagonia, and Farm League present new film
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 7 April, 2015 - Encinitas, California - Save The Waves will present the North American premiere of "The Fisherman's Son"—a new film presented by Save The Waves, Patagonia and Farm League—this Wednesday, April 8th at Encinitas' La Paloma theater.
Directed by Chris Malloy, the film documents the life and coastline of Chilean Big Wave Surfer Ramon Navarro. Ramon grew up at Punta de Lobos on the Chilean Coast, helping his father with his fishing business and learning to dive at an early age.
A committed activist, he’s worked on numerous projects to preserve his country’s vibrant surf environment. The Fisherman’s Son focuses on Ramon’s rise to fame and how he’s using his legend status in the surf world to speak out for the environment and protection of his own backyard.
The film premiere marks the launch of Save the Waves' campaign with Ramon, #LobosPorSiempre, an effort to protect Punta de Lobos by creating a local foundation to protect the land, a marine protected areas and ongoing stewardship projects.
