Wilco Prins will step in as the new EuroSIMA President

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 June, 2016 - After leading the European action sports industry association for nine years, Frédéric Basse said his final farewell to the industry on Friday, May 27th 2016 during the EuroSIMA General Assembly.

Wilco Prins, General Manager at Rip Curl Europe, offcially took over as President for 1 year. “Wilco represents the new generation of 35-40 year olds. As General Manager at Rip Curl Europe, he is at the heart of what companies need. The fact that he is multicultural is also a real asset for EuroSIMA”, declared Frédéric Basse in his moral report.

It was also the opportunity to provide the 90 participants with a report on the past year and insight on the projects for 2016. Various themes were on the meeting’s agenda: electing a new board of directors, providing the official financial report for the year, presenting current association actions and announcing new projects (Village Nautic Paris, Hossegor Surfing Week, Ocean Experiences, Sport Achat Nantes...).

For the rst time, EuroSIMA wanted to support young entrepreneurs in the Action Sports industry through a business sponsorship program. Eleven companies applied, out of which the EuroSIMA board selected two for sponsorship: Base de Pop and S-Wings. The two lucky companies will enjoy a variety of advantages including personalized assistance and support from sponsors who are seasoned executives from EuroSIMA member companies.

Notox, Bic Sport, Woodstock Creation, Atua.Cores, Volcom, Verkor, Sofrinnov, Pride and Euroglass were all recognized for their commitment to the environment and received the 2016 label.

To close the 2016 General Assembly, a cocktail dinner party was held in honor of Frédéric Basse. He therefore put an end to his adventure with EuroSIMA in style to the beat of a Mikey Monkey’s concert and surrounded by his friends and family.
