Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 28 October, 2008 : - - Newport Beach, Ca -- Freestyle would like to congratulate Nat Young, the seventeen-year-old goofy-footer, who killed it this past weekend at the 2008 ONeill Coldwater Classic.
Young, a Santa Cruz native, used his local knowledge of Steamer Lane combined with solid surfing to win the first place prize of $10,000 and his first WQS win. He also placed second in the Macy's CA Trifecta Oakley Pro Junior Series earning himself a spot to compete at the Billabong ASP World Junior Championships held in Narrabeen, Australia.
It was cool winning in front of the home crowd, everybody was super supportive and cheering on every wave, Im so stoked, said Nat Young.
Young has been a part of Freestyles team for three years and Freestyle could not be any prouder of him. Nat has quietly let his surfing do the talking, hes worked hard to raise his game to an elite level, and is very deservedly making a name for himself, said Freestyle Marketing Director, Chad LaBass.
