Gabe Davies joins Northcore Europe Team Riders
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 26 October, 2012 : - - Gabe Davies officially joined the Northcore surf team as a brand Ambassador this week. North East based pro-surfer Davies is recognised and respected within the tow-in surfing community and by surfers worldwide as a man who will charge on some of the planet’s biggest, heaviest, coldest waves so will be a highly valued member of the Northcore team.
Northcore spokesman said of the new joining “ Gabe is a surfing legend especially in the UK. He's a super stylish surfer in any size waves including the monsters that roll in over the winter months on Ireland's West Coast, so it's a genuine privilege to have Gabe join our team”
Gabe Davies said “ I really appreciate the support for my surfing career and filming projects from Northcore. The company which is based on the East Coast, is such a natural fit especially as I have recently left Hossegor for my hometown of Tynemouth. We have some great projects planned for the winter, so as always I hope the swells play ball!”
Davies was born and raised in Newcastle, England, surfing the frigid waters of the North Sea to emerge as one of Britain's most talented surfers, winning several UK National surf titles, free surfing some of the world's best waves and developing into one of Europe's first tow in surfing pioneers, teaming up with Northcore™'s Irish brand Ambassador Ritchie Fitzgerald to tackle Ireland's biggest waves.
Over the years Davies has featured in the worldwide mainstream and surfing media. He held a pivotal role in the feature film “Waveriders", was a consultant for "Cloud 9" a movie starring Kelly Slater and TV work starring in "Surf Trip" a Channel 4 series and the BBC program "Inside Out".
More recently Davies has been instrumental in discovering and riding new big wave spots on the Irish West coast scoring some huge waves, including an XXL nomination for a wave he rode at Mullaghmore in 2010.
Davies is also tireless with his involvement within the UK surfing community supporting the British Surfing Museum as their Patron and volunteering his time to help Surfers as Sewage as Chairman of the reps and campaigner.
