EducaSurf organization brings surfing to Sao Paulo kids
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 24 December, 2014 - Brazil's Gabriel Medina, is donating his surfboard to help a non-governmental organization devoted to teaching the sport to poor children, auction organizers said Tuesday. The auction will be held on the Internet through Friday and the highest initial bid stands at 65,100 reais (some $24,000).
The money collected from the sale of the surfboard will be used to help projects run by Educasurf, an NGO that works in the city of Guaruja, on the Sao Paulo coast, and which uses surfing as "a healthy alternative to socialize and enjoy an environment far from drugs and violence," the organization's website says.
