Team riders to promote Optrix at Consumer Electronics Show
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 January, 2015 - Redondo Beach - With the action sports camera industry booming and nearly one billion images that are captured on smartphones everyday, Optrix by Body Glove has created a new line of iPhone lens cases to let users document their adventures in the most rugged of conditions. The cases are already a huge hit with pros like World Championship Tour Surfer Tatiana Weston-Webb and Guinness World Record holder and big wave rider Garrett McNamara.
At the heart of the Optrix product line is a modular ultra rugged iPhone 6 housing with interchangeable lenses. The combination of go-anywhere toughness with image enhancing professional grade lenses means iPhone users can capture and share their most exciting adventures with a product they already know how to use.
“When I started Optrix I wanted to be able to share the most thrilling aspects of my life, not just Instagram my breakfast,” said founder John Willenborg who founded the company in 2009 after wanting a solution to more easily share his moto adventures with friends and family. The company was an instant hit and grew quickly. It joined forces with Redondo Beach-based Body Glove this last year in late 2014.
“As the ultimate watersports brand that’s been inventing products built to enjoy the water and outdoor lifestyle since 1953, Optrix is the perfect tool to allow users to relive their favorite adventures forever,” said Body Glove VP of Marketing Scott Daley.
Optrix and Body Glove both felt the billion-dollar action camera industry was leaving out the consumer that wanted simplicity and a direct connection to social media. Their solution is working. Optrix consumers are posting selfies right from their surfboard.
“It’s simple and the results are stunning,” added Daley. “All you need to do to understand Optrix is go through customers’ social media images to see it. “The pure joy people are having with the products is infectious.”
Big Wave Surfer Garrett McNamara & Pro Surfer Tatiana Weston-Webb will be at the Body Glove Mobile booth (LVCC, South Hall 3, #31121)
