Female surfers storm Ocean Grove for dual events

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 November, 2013 - This weekend will see a massive gathering of female surfers from around the state with the Ghanda Girls Surf Off and the Play it Safe by the Water Surfing for Girls Presented by Ghanda both being run at Ocean Grove on consecutive days.

The Ghanda Girls Surf off will see 50 female competitors from around the state head to the popular beach break to battle it out in a fun day of competitive surfing on the Saturday.

Divisions include Under 12, Under 15, Under 18, Open and Over 30 and will feature surfers such as local up and comer Jemima Hutchins (Barwon Heads), Madi Ratcliff (Warrnambool), Bella Wilson (Jan Juc) and Courtney Dunlop (Phillip Island).

Special contest director for the day will be former top 10 Women’s World Tour competitor, Bec Woods, who will be on hand all day to hang out with the competitors and oversee the whole event.

Continuing into the Sunday, The Play it Safe by the Water Surfing for Girls Presented by Ghanda will be getting set to begin its state-wide tour of beaches starting off at Ocean Grove before moving on to 8 other beaches throughout the state.

The tour which features Bec Woods will also have the talents of Phillip Island girls Jess Laing and India Payne who will be back for their 3rd year involved in the program.

All participants will receive a full surf lesson, water safety skills, a showbag and the chance to go surfing with Bec, Jess and India all for just $20.

Participants are encouraged to sign up before the day at Surfing Victoria's website to avoid missing out.

The Play it Safe by the Water Surfing for Girls is Presented by Ghanda and Supported by Surfing Victoria, Cancer Council Sunscreen and Be the Influence – Tackling Binge Drinking.
