What fins, pad, board and more did Matt Wilkinson use to win?
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 March, 2016 - It took a while, but Gorilla global team rider Matt Wilkinson has won his first WSL WCT event in spectacular fashion at the Quiksilver Pro on the Gold Coast. In super fun waves at the iconic right hand point break, Wilko opened up his vertical backhand attack to defeat FCS global team rider Kolohe Andino in the final.
What did Wilko ride?
While they look pretty wild on the outside, Gorilla fins have all the tech ingredients on the inside to perform at a world-class level. The Gorilla ‘On The Blob’ large template featuring a collaborative Otis Carey art graphic has a flat foil on the side fins and is good for ripping all sorts of waves.
WIlko was running the FCS II plugs in all his boards for snapper. His winning board featured the standard grey plugs to contrast the white bottom and a self-inflicted red artwork on the deck.
The Gorilla 6’ Hyper Comp leash has a unique graphic on the cuff and is packed with all the performance features needed to rip in comfort and without and restrictions. The comp leash minimizes drag due to the thinner cord and low drag properties, and for that reason rippers generally use it.
The Gorilla Wilko Naked pad features custom artwork applied using an excusive printing process that’s available only on Gorilla pads. Wilko’s 3-piece pad has a straighter edge on the outer panels and strategically placed holes for extra grip.
