Gorilla welcomes German Marlon Lipke to the team

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 14 January, 2009 : - - Gorilla is pleased to announce the signing of German surfer and World Tour rookie Marlon Lipke to the team. Marlon joins a host of world class surfers who represent the Gorilla brand each with their own individual style and personality.

After an impressive assault on the World Qualifying Series in 2008, highlighted by consistent results, Marlon now finds himself in the big leagues. He will join fellow Gorilla team riders Kai Otton, Luke Stedman, Adrian Buchan and Adriano De Souza on tour where he will no doubt make his presence felt.

Marlon has made history by becoming the first German surfer to qualify for the elite ASP World Tour. He was introduced to surfing on the South Coast of the Algarve when he was 8, and it didn’t take long before he entered his first contest.

The rest is history; his resume is littered with incredible results from what has been a successful career to date. In 2008 his goal was to qualify for the elite tour and for this lucky German everything came together like pieces of a puzzle.

Marlon brings his own flavor and personality to the Gorilla brand and his signature pad is set to be released in late 2009.

The Gorilla brand consciously aligns itself with surfers who possess colorful personalities underlined by the fact they can tear the bag out of any wave on the planet. Marlon fits the mold perfectly and will do a great job representing Gorilla and the European surfing community.

SHI Brand Ambassador and former WCT competitor Richie Lovett commented, “I’ve been watching Marlon’s progress for some time now. He’s a great surfer… no doubt about it. His achievements to date reflect his talent, dedication and desire to succeed. Now that he has qualified for the tour I’m sure he will make his mark on professional surfing”.

Marlon is sponsored by Hurley, Vans, Oakley, Nixon, X-Markets Deutsche Bank, Gorilla, Planet Sports and Semente Surfboards
