HIF to support surfers all across Australia as well

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 February, 2016 - Surfing Western Australia is thrilled to announce the continuing partnership with the Health Insurance Fund of Australia (HIF) for 2016.

Surfers right across the country will benefit from the national partnership with Surfing Western Australia and other state branches, with investment benefitting Surfing Victoria, Surfing New South Wales, Surfing Queensland, Surfing South Australia and Surfing Tasmania.

Over the course of the 4-year state partnership, HIF has assisted in funding the development of West Australian athletes, events and also keeping thousands of competitors safe in the water.

Since the donation of a new jet ski to Surfing WA in 2014, the HIF Water Safety Team have spent over 500 hours in the water at events looking out for competitive surfers.

In addition HIF have supported Surfing WA State Teams, who have claimed numerous podium places at National Titles over the years.

“While the HIF partnership started at a local level, it has continued to grow in strength and size with each year,” said Surfing WA CEO Mark Lane. “HIF are now supporting national programs and there is no doubt that surfing in Australia would look very different without their support.”

“Surfing is synonymous with a healthy lifestyle and has been proven to provide both mental and physical health benefits. The growth of our partnership is a testament to the strength of our aligned objectives, keeping our community safe, happy and healthy.”

"HIF's continued involvement in the WA surfing scene is an important step in confirming our commitment to supporting a healthy lifestyle amongst the surfing community," said HIF Managing Director, Graeme Gibson said, “HIF is proudly West Australian and a successful not-for-profit health insurer, it is also one of Australia’s fastest growing health funds, so it makes sense to us to continue our partnership with another successful organisation in Surfing WA."

HIF will be supporting the following events in WA throughout 2016:

HIF Pro Am Series Round # 1 Margaret River - 27th & 28th February

HIF Pro Am Series Round # 2 Metro - 30th April & 1st May
