Makia welcomes Jarno 'Jake' Luotonen as Creative Director
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 September, 2012 : - - For the past 4 years, Jake has been responsible for the art direction at Makia. Joggling between his day job as an art director and the ever growing tasks at Makia during his free time. Today we are proud to announce that Jake has accepted a full-time position at Makia as Creative Director. A very welcomed addition to the existing team at the headquarters in Helsinki, Jake leaves behind a top position in one of Finland's leading advertising agencies with over a decades experience in the advertising world.
In his own words: " It is hard to leave a good work place, but even harder to pass on an opportunity like Makia. It's not everyday that you get to be a part of creating an exciting brand emerging from Finland. " In addition to many finnish and nordic brands he has been working with international brands such as Audi, Norwegian, Seat and Diesel.
Needless to say his co-workers share the feeling and are already working hard together on up and coming projects. Makia co-founder Joni Malmi states: "We can't be more excited about Jake joining our team full-time. This has been a long time coming and finally we get to enjoy the full potential of Jake's creative talent and professionalism."
Founded in 2001, Makia has since grown in to a full line of men's and women's clothes being sold in over 30 countries around the world.
Born out of an idea of a timeless streetwear line, Makia makes modern yet old fashioned clothes that reflect the Finnish tradition of simple and straight forward design.
