HIF Victorian Longboard Titles set to kick off at Point Impossible
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 April, 2015 - Point Impossible, Australia - The HIF Victorian Longboard Titles is set to kick off this coming weekend with the opening round of the series being held at the popular longboard location of Point Impossible.
With the forecast on offer, event organisers have made the decision to move the event to Point Impossible from the original location of Ocean Grove, which will provide some of the best waves for a longboard event in recent years.
One of the most prestigious events in the state, the best long board riders in the state will battle it out for a spot in the Victorian Longboard Team heading to the Australian Longboard Titles in Port Macquarie.
Boasting past winners such as, Greg Brown (Jan Juc), Alan Atkins (Anglesea), Sandy Ryan (Phillip Island), Adam Lynch (Geelong), Jann Dunton (Mornington Peninsula), Heather Peck (Ocean Grove), Emma Webb (Jan Juc) and Molly Powell (Angelsea), the event showcases the immense amount of talent in the Victorian longboarding community.
Over 70 competitors will be attending the event with divisions ranging from Under 18 to Over 65.
Swell forecasts are promising with a large-scale groundswell building throughout Saturday and into Sunday.
Surfing Victoria official swell forecaster, Coastalwatch PLUS, have flagged the groundswell hitting the coastline throughout Friday with reinforcing swells keeping wave heights in the 4-6ft range on Saturday with an extra large swell due on Sunday accompanied with strong onshore winds.
