Highwater premieres at the Surfing Heritage Foundation
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 August, 2008 : - - San Clemente -- The Surfing Heritage Foundations second film of their 3rd Annual Summer Surf Film Series, sponsored by Rainbow Sandals, is HIGHWATER, directed by Dana Brown and presented by Apostrophe Films and produced C.Rich Wilson, capturing the action of the Triple Crown.
Starring some of the biggest stars on the North Shore of Oahu during the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, which is considered the pinnacle of surf contests, held respectfully at Haleiwa, Sunset Beach and Pipeline.
With three contests, within a 10 mile radius of beach, held within a six week period, over Thanksgiving to almost Christmas, during sometimes the biggest waves of the season, the Vans Triple Crown is revered as the contest to win for the year. The stories and insight that Dana has captured in HIGHWATER gives you a surfers slice into the waters of life on the North Shore during the adrenaline rush season.
Featured in the film; Kelly Slater, The Malloys, Sunny Garcia, Pat OConnell, Randy Rarick, Rochelle Ballard, Jesse Billauer, Rob Machado, the Irons and many more.
Considered to some as the church of surfing, many travel from all around the world to this paradise Mecca, to surf, star surf gaze and other locals try and side step the contest hoopla. This evening of surf will be a night to remember as you get an intimate glance to the waves, surfers, and excitement on the North Shore of Oahu.
Browns past films include ENDLESS SUMMER II, DUST TO GLORY and the highly acclaimed STEP INTO LIQUID. STEP INTO LIQUID has enormous success in 2004 with Danas heartfelt look into the pros, icons and everyday surfers and how stepping into the oceans enriches their lives.
This story of the Triple Crown of Surfing in HIGHWATER, has never had such an in-depth view as to what Brown has created for his new film. Appearing in person at the screening will be Director Dana Brown, Wes Brown (Editor), the Executive Director of Vans Triple of Surfing Randy Rarick, Pat OConnell, and Jesse Billauer with other special guests to be announced at a later date.
The screenings are held at the Foundations cultural heritage facility located at 110 Calle Iglesia, San Clemente, CA 92672. Show time is 8 pm and doors open to the general public at 7 pm. General admission is $10. VIP tickets, which include dinner, drinks and premiere seating, are available for $50. Proceeds from the evening go to the Surfing Heritage Foundation and their ongoing work of preserving surf culture for the education and appreciation of current and future generations.
