New service promotes local shops and deals to action sports athletes in their area

, 10 August, 2011 : - - San Diego --, today announces the launch of its new local business service, which is designed to assist shops, retailers and service providers to connect with its growing audience of over 700,000 action sports members. Now, when members use Hookit’s Spots and Sessions feature either online or from their mobile device, local retailers and shops have the unique opportunity be found within the spot map, as well as offer special promotions to help drive foot traffic to their business.

The local business service includes such features as:
• Targeted exposure for the local business on and Hookit mobile apps for iPhone and Android

• Profile to display business information, hours of operation, photos, videos and reviews from members

• Tools to help develop a following of local Hookit members by posting news, events or new information about your business to interact with members in your area

• Ability to setup and manage promotions a.k.a. ‘Hookups’ to attract new customers – as well as set a daily budget and view real-time reports monitoring performance

“By harnessing our proprietary technology and sole focus on action sports, we can effectively target and link together the thousands of local shops, along with the deals they offer, and quickly put the word out to our members,” said Scott Tilton, CEO of “The usage of our Spots & Sessions feature has exploded since we launched it in May. Hookit initially launched the Spots & Sessions feature in May, and recently announced its new mobile app for iPhone and Android. The feature allows members to use an interactive map on their computer or mobile device to find local spots, check conditions and log their sessions. Since launching, nearly 25,000 spots have been added and partnerships have been created with over 100 of the best spots in the country. Hookit partnered with Monster Energy and hit the road on June 1st with the Spots & Sessions Tour. By September 15th the Tour will have traveled over 11,000 miles visiting nearly 150 spots across the country.
