Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre gets inspection
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 6 March, 2012 : - - Casuarina, New South Wales -- True innovators Hurley and Surfing Australia met last week for a site inspection of the Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre at Casuarina Beach, Northern NSW. Representatives from Hurley including founder Bob Hurley, Jason Haynes (Hurley Australia General Manager), Simon Haskell (SVP GM Global Mens Hurley) and 1978 World Champion Wayne Rabbit Bartholomew were given a guided tour of the burgeoning facility by Surfing Australia CEO Andrew Stark.
It was an honour to take the team from Hurley through the HPC today and show them the building in progress, said Stark. Hurley is very passionate about the new facility. They really understand our vision to provide a state of the art facility to develop Australian surfers. The HPC and Hurley form a perfect partnership for the future of Australian surfing.
Hurley Australia General Manager Jason Haynes said they're excited about innovating surfing in the country. "Hurley is proud to be in a position to continue our support of Australian surfing," said Haynes. "The Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre is an innovative approach and a world first. To be able to support Surfing Australia in the centre which will hopefully produce another Australian World Champion is incredible. It's a great partnership and we look forward to the centre being open later this year."
The Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre will boast state of the art education facilities, accommodation, a surf specific gym, auditorium, offices and testing and treatment rooms.
The two-level centre has been designed in consultation with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).
The partnership between Surfing Australia and Hurley will ensure that Australian surfers continue to dominate on the world stage. The centre will become a training ground for world class athletes and will encompass the Hurley mandate of innovation, high performance and youth development.
The Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre is expected to be completed and fully operational by June 2012.
