Bodyboarders compete for points to surf Pipe

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 4 September, 2014 - The third event of the Kellogg's IBA Hawaii Pro Tour is set to get underway September 6th and 7th at Sandy Beach on Oahu's south shoreline. Sandy Beach is famous for it's bodysurfing, bodyboarding and surfing waves. It has long been a community hot spot and now getting a front row parking lot spot is nearly impossible,  the view is stellar.

The event is the third in a series that will give highly sought after points to riders for a seed into the Pipeline event in February. Sandy's is the launching pad for some riders and a tour destination for some top riders. "This will be a high performance event," said Contest Director Ben Severson. "It is a community event, a community place and we hope everyone comes down to enjoy the show. There is a swell and this is one of the most consistent places, should be good."  The surf is expected to hold from a new south swell into the weekend in what some are considering the best summer of surf for a long time. Some of the top pros that will be enjoying the rides are Dave and Jeff Hubbard both World Champions.

Matt Holzman, 2013 tour winner and current points leader Jacob Romero. The very popular Romero the "rippa" is from Weiahu, Maui and is know for his crazy acrobatic maneuvers in the surf. He will be fun to watch! Also on tap Mike Stewart, the one - the only. Stewart is the master, a multiple World Champion who is forever etched in the history of bodyboarding. He is one of the sports trick inventors and continues this day designing real time innovations for his bodyboard line, Science Bodyboards.

There is over $10,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs thanks to the support of Kellogg's, Pepsi, Science Bodyboards, T&C Surf and Scott Hawaii. "Big thanks to all our many supporters we have been able to put together great competitions for our Hawaii riders", said norm Skorge, the IBA Hawaii Tour Director. " We are looking forward to a epic event, see you all at Sandy Beach."
