JBay prepares for Winterfest madness
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 May, 2014 - The music lineup for the JBay Winterfest is set to blow music lovers away. The music festival, set to take place at the Jolly Dolphin from 11- 19 July, forms part of the JBay Winterfest, incorporating World Tour surfing, mountain biking, skateboarding, open water swimming, the VW Rally and more.
The first weekend of the festival looks like it's going to be a pretty large one on the music front. We have the massive A King and Van Coke Cartel as well as DJ Naaldekoker opening on Friday 11 July, followed by the beats of PHFat, and the inimitable Jack Parow, who will be all over the show on Saturday 12 July.
The Parlotones will make their appearance midweek, on Wednesday 16 July, to keep us going until the final weekend.
The Lucas Reunion and Jeremy Loops will get the party rocking on Friday 18 July, before 7TH Son and Taxi Violence close off the music on Saturday 19 July.
In between all the tunes, there is going to be World Class surfing going down at Supertubes, with the best 32 surfers in the world competing for World Tour victory, points and prizemoney. Our South African two times winner Jordy Smith will be in the mix, along with world champion surfers Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson.
Other JBay regulars like Taj Burrow and Adriano de Souza will also be competing, along with relative JBay newcomers in Mitch Crews and Gabriel Medina, to name a few.
So when the sun goes down, the surfing is done for the day and you want to rock out, the Music Festival is going to be the place to head to. Ask Jack Parow -
"What can I say about the JBay Winterfest, except... women, waves, booze, crazy parties, crazier people, music, more booze, waves, Mickey drunk, surfing, more booze, parties, surfing, hangover, surfing, booze, women, music, Koffie in a wig, people falling down hills on longboards, blood, more booze, more blood, parties, music, music, blood, music, woman, booze, Frank shirtless, music, booze, surfing, sleep."
Ok you can breathe now. Music Festival tickets will go on sale from the 15th May 2014, and are available directly from The Jolly Dolphin.
