Peter 'Joli' Wilson on hand to capture phenomenal event
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 14 April, 2014 - G'day from Western Australia. The dust is settling this morning on the first men's WCT event to be held at Margaret River and it's only fitting that it was won by Michel Bourez who finally nailed his maiden win on tour.
For whoever won yesterdays final, either Josh Kerr or Bourez it was going to be history making for either surfer. They'd both made finals before and ironical both been beaten by Parko but neither had come out on top. The powerful waves running in the 6' range suited the Tahitian as he carved his way to victory.

It had been a long event with six days of surfing and six lay-days squeezed in between. The women's WCT wrapped up a week ago with Carissa Moore taking it out and in the final week the event took advantage of its back up jewel, The Box, by running Round 5 in slabing right-handers.
There are a lot of photos in this Gallery, contest action, free surfing and lifestyle and scenery including trips to the local wineries and breweries.
There's a lot to see in the Margaret River region of the South West so enjoy what I've captured.
