Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 22 April, 2013 : - - Jordy Smith has won the Men’s Surfing “Real Surf” presented by Oakley component of the X Games. Each of the eight invited surfers submitted 90-second videos with a maximum of eight tricks to be judged by a committee of well-respected surf industry professionals. A first place prize of $50,000 as awarded to the winner, as well as gold, silver and bronze medals for the top three finishers.
With a clip highlighted by some spectacular barrels at Kirra and his full arsenal of power turns and big airs, Jordy Smith won the judge’s vote for X Games “Real Surf” presented by Oakley and the Gold Medal. Smith is also in the running for Gold in the people’s vote, which will be decided on Saturday.
“I’ve used to watch X Games as a kid and I always wanted to be a part of it, so to actually be standing here, I’m tripping out. Super excited to have my first X Games medal'" said Smith.
