Brothers release "Diamond of the Desert" on LastNameFirst.TV

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 August, 2014 - “Diamond Of The Desert,” the latest edit featuring brother and blogger duo Koa and Alex Smith, officially launches on Tuesday, August 12th through their blog LastNameFirst.TV.

The second edit in a series of four this year, “Diamond Of The Desert” chronicles the Smith brothers’ journey to Africa alongside international model and brother Travis, videographer/editor Dan Treanor and friend Dylan Goodale. Shot primarily through the use of GoPro and drone camera echnologies, the film brings viewers a no-holds-barred look at the some of the best point breaks in the world. The highlight of the film was also a personal feat for Koa himself.

“I had the longest barrel ride of my life on day one of the trip,” said Koa Smith. “I’m stoked we chose to use the GoPro that day – when you’re watching the footage, it really feels like you’re in the wave experiencing it with me.”

Surfing in Africa was at the top of the brothers’ bucket list and it did not disappoint. Chasing one of the biggest swells of all time this past June, the film features stellar performance surfing from both Koa and Alex.
The idea to release the edit on LastNameFirst.TV was not a new one for Koa and Alex.

The brothers started the blog three years ago to showcase video edits, photography, music playlists, fashion and travel diaries.  “We wanted to have a space online that was entirely created and run by us,” said Alex. “We’ve been gaining more visitors to the site through each edit and it’s been awesome to watch it grow.”
