Shred the fairway at first GolfBoard invitational, hosted by Laird Hamilton
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 21 May, 2015 - Bend, Oregon - Next week Tetherow Resort in Bend, Oregon will host the World's first GolfBoard-only tournament, from May 29 – 30, 2015.
Big wave surfer and GolfBoard co-founder, Laird Hamilton, will be on hand to surf the earth as he competes in the tournament. The tournament is open to the public and the winner takes home their own GolfBoard!
Festivities kick off Friday, May 29 with a Speedgolf demo and competition (winner takes home $1,000), followed by a lively meet and greet arrival party at 5:30 pm. The GolfBoard Open Tournament will take place on Saturday morning, May 30, topped off with afternoon libations, lunch and awards ceremony.
Cost to participate is all-inclusive, $195 per person (guests may attend with additional fee). Players must have an active, verifiable USGA Handicap to compete.To register, call (877) 298-2582.
Tetherow was the first golf course in the country to incorporate a full fleet of GolfBoards as an alternative to using golf carts. Traversing from shot to shot across the golf course will take on a whole new dimension of fun, action, and excitement, allowing golfers to "Surf the Earth" in a way previously reserved for surfers and snowboarders.
