Filmers have until 31 of August to submit their films
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 29 August, 2014 - This is a final call for entries to the 2014 London Surf / Film Festival presented by Reef. Filmmakers are invited to submit their films until 31 August for consideration in this year’s festival programme. Surfing and surf culture are wide open to interpretation and we welcome films that explore all aspects and angles.
Sunday 31st August also sees the entries to The LS/FF Shorties short film contest close. The Shorties, celebrating the wealth of homegrown talents on our shores, is open exclusively to filmmakers from or based in the UK and Ireland and open to entries up to 5 minutes in length.
“The art of story telling is deeply embedded within our surfing heritage," says Festival Director Chris Nelson. "The level of entries we've had so far to this year's festival - features, documentaries, shorts and mind-blowing movies showcasing the cutting edge of performance surfing - clearly demonstrates that the surfing narrative is alive and well."
Selected films will be screened as part of the 4th edition of the London Surf / Film Festival presented by Reef, 9th October to the 12th October 2014 at The Genesis, East London. A celebration of the cream of contemporary surf culture, the programme will consist of the very best films by both leading lights and emerging surf filmmakers, award-winning features by internationally acclaimed directors, underground hits and UK premiers.
Films will be considered by the Screening Panel – comprised of experts from within the worlds of surfing, filmmaking and media – for prestigious awards including London Surf / Film Festival Best Film, Best Documentary and Best Cinematography, Best International Short, Shortie of the Year and will be eligible for the London Surf / Film Festival Viewer’s Choice, as voted for by the knowledgeable British audience.
